finding the right college philippines

Choosing the right college is probably one of the biggest decisions you will ever make. After all, your future depends on it.  As a senior high school student with your own professional hopes of a professional path, it is important to choose the right school for you.   Many of you may have visited different and considered different schools and may even be accepted by most.  But even after the traditional school visits, tests and acceptance letters that you received, you still have to make that one important choice, and for many, this would be a cause of anxiety.  Many experts believe that doubts and the commitment that a student has to make once he enters that college often increases the stress and anxiety which makes decision making even more difficult.  But this does not have to be a painstaking task for students nor their parents.  Here are six ways that can help you choose the right college.

1.  Go over your school list.  You may have received a pile of letters from schools which have accepted you, and this is a good thing.  You can use this to weigh your options and reflect on why you applied to these schools in the first place.  You can narrow down your list and choose the top two or three schools you are considering.   Some questions you can ask yourself include why you initially applied in that school and how does it compare to the other schools you applied in.

2. Make a list of the pros and cons. It is always good to make an extensive list of the pros and cons when you are trying to decide which school is best for you.  Your list can include the size of the school, location, environment, number of students in a class, tuition fee, and the reputation of the school.  The internet can give you a bounty of information as well. All you have to do is get online.

3. Check the credibility of the school.  Many universities offer college courses where they have professors who specialize in a specific professional field.  It is not a bad idea to ask about the faculty members and their professional background. Of course, enrolling in a school which is popularly known to produce reputable professionals is key. A good tip is to check the college rankings.  This would help you fairly judge the reputation of a school and what it can offer you.

4. Look for job connections.  Many schools offer job partnerships with other companies.  This is an important tool you can use to help you secure your future.  However, you must make sure you get the specific details of how schools can help you.  Going to school fairs and consulting with the school will give you a better idea of what they offer and how they can help you after you graduate. In other words, do not be too shy to ask.  You can find more about the college by doing your research or making an appointment to ask them.

5. Procrastination is not your friend.  I know it can get overwhelming and yes, it is a difficult decision.  But time waits for no one so, never wait for tomorrow to do what you have to do.  Start spending some time doing your work to make the right decision. While it is true that there are many other schools out there, there are also many other students who would want to take that seat that may be meant for you.

6. Learn to compromise.  While you are the one who will be attending your college, the truth is finances, your parents and other matters are important factors.  Take all of these into account before you decide.  But do not be pressured into making a hasty decision. These things take time.  This is why you should start now.

Ultimately, choosing the right school is a decision that is yours and yours alone.  Your parents and friends may help and give you helpful advice, but the answer is in your hands.  In the long run, you will have to be the one to endure the needed years to finish your studies in that school.
